Erik Rivera Biography

Since bursting onto to the NYC comedy scene in 2004, Erik Rivera's name has become synonymous with comedy. His "boy next door" good looks and unique perspective make him one of New York's fastest rising young comedians. His quick wit along with his commanding stage presence, charisma and infectious smile make him a favorite act at comedy clubs and colleges throughout the country.

A regular at New York City comedy clubs such as The Comedy Cellar, Caroline's on Broadway, Broadway Comedy Club and Comic Strip Live, Erik is quickly becoming a familiar face on film and television as well. This spring Erik stars in a feature film, ScreenVision's "Stand Up 360" along with Caroline Rhea, to be released in theaters across the country. In addition, he was hand-picked to host their Latino film series, "Stand Up 360Â…Muy Caliente!" Rivera has also appeared in two independent features, "My Brother" and "Stand Up," by award winning director Michael Rainin. Erik also wrote and directed his first short film, "The Cyclist" this year which won the 2010 Best Comedy Award in the 15 Minutes of Fame Short Film Festival and is featured on Funny or Die.

With his audience-pleasing style and relentless work ethic, it's not surprising that Erik has appeared numerous times on SiTV, Comedy Central and most recently on MTV Tr3s', and has been featured as a special correspondent on the "Montel Williams Show" and on "Tyra." Erik also has hosted his own radio show "Hooked on E!" on Urban Latino Radio.

Corporate America came knocking on Erik's door in 2009, when he was selected as a correspondent for Duracell. Rivera hosted celebrity and media events at Duracell's Power Lab in Times Square interviewing Hollywood A-list celebrities like Gabriel Sidibe, Mark Paul Gosselaar, Adam Lambert and cast members from ABC's "Ugly Betty." On New Year's Eve, Erik' reported live from the top of Times Square One for the World Famous New Year's Eve Ball Drop.

Erik continues to perform at colleges and clubs nationwide. When in Los Angeles you can find him at The Famous Laugh Factory, The Hollywood Improv, The Comedy Store and The Ice House. In the summer of 2007 Rivera won the Diamonds in the Rough Award at The Latino Laugh Festival in Hollywood and had the honor of performing to a packed house at The Kodak Theatre along side Carlos Mencia and the country's top Latino comedians. Erik also is honored to be the only comedian to perform two consecutive years for The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute at the Warner Theater in Washington DC, hosting the event in 2009. Erik was a finalist for the NBC's Stand-Up For Diversity showcase in Los Angeles in late 2009 and will tour across the country in 2010 representing NBC.

Erik lives in a suburb of New York with his mom and dad, the source and inspiration for his comedy. And, in case you're wondering, yes, he's single.
