Sam Kinison Biography

For renegade comic Sam Kinison, nothing was out of bounds. Never afraid to be politically incorrect, Sam took on religion, relationships, sex and drugs, even world hunger. It was all the more incredible when you consider his former profession: that of Pentecostal minister.

Born in 1953, Sam great up in Peoria, Illinois as the son of an outspoken preacher whose family lived in their church. After spending a few years in the family business, Sam left the church to pursue his dream of becoming a stand-up comedian. In just a few years, Sam was selling out big arenas and amazing audiences with his preacher style performances and intense energy that had never been seen before in comedy. With a reputation as a world-class party animal, Sam soon became the "Rock n' Roll Comedian" and transformed into one of the most successful and influential stand-ups of the '80s and early '90s. Tragically Sam passed away in a car crash on the way to a performance in 1992.
